Birthday boy - 3 today

Happy Birthday to the sweetest and cheekiest little man I know. You are a blessing my big 3 year old. We love you so much Blakey Boy!!!

This time 3 years ago we were already home from the hospital and you and I were snuggling in bed together. I couldn't stop staring at that gorgeous face and kissing those beautiful cheeks. Not much has changed. Love you 'all the world' sweet boy.

It's all the small things

Life has a funny way of teaching us lessons doesn't it?
As hard and as crappy as the last few months have been with my two surgeries and being away from the boys so much it has definitely taught me about appreciation of the small things in life. I think we all get too caught up in life when it's so busy and we forget to look around and smell the roses. Life truly is in the detail.
It's ironic how the things in my day that used to grate at me or that I used to take for granted are now the things that bring so much joy in my day. Simple things like cooking for my boys, bath time, bed time stories and even the twenty million questions I get asked or 'why's' {and that's normally before 9am} don't seem to be as annoying anymore. I guess being pain free now has also made a massive difference to my moods. I'm so much more patient with the kids, less snappy and a much happier Mummy in general.
I've been really lucky that with the timing of school holidays I've spent even more quality time with the boys over the last week and they are loving it. As am I. To wake up their gorgeous smiley faces is so precious and I can look around and say that I truly am one lucky girl. I have so much in my life to be grateful for.

The boys have gone a little Smurf crazy this last week. As I'm sure a lot of little kids have. And big kids too. I think us Mums enjoyed the movie just as much as the kids did. It certainly brought back a lot of childhood memories. I loved those cute little blue guys when I was young.

My boys sporting their Smurf Tattoos!

So with another week of school holidays ahead of us. I'll be taking some time out to reflect and appreciate all the small things. I hope you will be too. It's so easy for someone to tell you to live every day as if it were your last or for people to preach about taking time to smell the roses but until things in your life change or something major happens that you don't have control of you don't tend to listen, you know really listen. I'm very grateful for my massive dose of perspective.

I'm hoping this weather stays as nice as it is right now because we've got big plans for this week. Another trip to the beach, lots of park visits, play dates, lots of swimming and I've promised the boys another trip to the movies to see Lion King in 3D which was Blake's request but I'm not sure how he'll go with keeping his glasses on. Oh and last but not definitely not least my baby turns 3 on Wednesday and we his party is on Saturday.

In the meantime you can find us here.

Our week in photos

What a crazy week it has been. Today is the beginning of school holidays here and Queensland has put on some amazing weather for us. Cooper had his school Spring Fair on Friday. We had such a great day. We've already been for our first swim of the season. I love Spring on the Gold Coast.

Did I mention how amazing the weather has been??

Here is our week in photos.

It was 32 degrees here yesterday. Our hottest September day since 1991.

Grateful for Dad's!!

I'm so grateful for the lovely Dad's that I am lucky enough to have in my life.

This week I'm joining in with Emily at The Beetle Shack who's hosting this weeks Maxabella Loves Gratefulness linky.

Firstly there is this man-

My wonderful Dad who is also known as Pappy to his grandchildren. My Dad is my hero. Always has been and always will be. I just love this man. He's so full of love and even though we don't always see eye to eye nothing will ever change our amazingly close bond. Yes I'm a Daddy's girl through and through. He is also a brilliant grandfather. The boys spend hours upon hours 'helping' Pappy outside in the garden and love to take tractor rides down the back of the property to check on the pumpkins. My gosh does he love his grandkids. So attentive, patient, loving and generous with my boys and I'm just grateful for him and so proud to call him my Dad.

Then there's this man-

Also seen here with his Dad.

This is my little boys Daddy. He is their Super Hero. The man that my boys look up to and admire so much. There is no other love stronger than that which you have for your kids and the boys are so lucky to have a Dad who loves them as much as he does. Cooper is a real Daddy's boy and follows him around like a bad smell. They're the best of mates. The boys have such an amazing bond with their Dad and I'm so grateful for the relationship that they have.

A bond that he also has with his Dad seen above. Also known to the boys as Pa. The boys adore Pa and always look forward to spending time with him at the race track. A tradition that has now been passed down four generations. Pa loves to spoil Cooper & Blake with treats of ice cream, mints and lollies. My boys are very lucky.

My big brother is another Dad who I want to send love to this coming weekend. He has three gorgeous cherubs of his own now. We don't get to see much of each other as they live in Melbourne. But he's another Dad that I respect and admire. Another Dad that would do anything for his kids.

I am so grateful for all the Dad's in my life.

So to all the amazing Dad's out there I wish you a wonderful and happy Fathers Day for Sunday. I hope you get spoilt rotten and smothered in kisses and cuddles.

Polly Dolly V.2 WK 22 - Kaftan

I'm joining in again toady for some fashion fun over at Danimezza for the Polly Dolly Polyvore challenge.

This week's theme is the stunning Kaftan and can I just say I love a stylish and colourful Kaftan. I've got quite the collection myself. My favourite is one I picked up while holidaying in Thailand but for as long as I can remember i've been eyeing off the gorgeous Camilla Kaftan's but unfortunately at the price tag it will be a while longer before I get one. That's what great about Polly Dolly, you can use your pretend Credit Cards to purchase what you can't afford.

My Polly Dolly is off to Bali for a relaxing holiday in the sun. See I can even dream up pretend holidays to go with the outfit. What i'd give to be sitting on a tropical beach sipping on a Long Island Iced Tea listening to the waves crash in to the shore. Ahhhh bring on Summer. And we're almost there. I can't believe it's Spring already. I can't wait for this warmer weather. Bring it on!!
