I had good intentions of blogging about Cooper's party and of course the number 5 racing car cake over the weekend but after Saturday afternoons bowling party I was absolutely exhausted yesterday. Goodness knows why because all I had to do was make the cake and turn up with the boys. It's the first time I've even entertained the thought of not having a house party but this year Cooper was adamant he was having a bowling party and I really didn't mind. It was less stressful not having to worry about making all the party food. And I'm one of those entertainers who always over caters. Plus I was able to walk away after the party and not have to worry about the mess. Now that's my kind of party.
I'll post some party photos tomorrow when I get then from my Dad as I didn't take many on my iPhone but I managed to get a few of the cake coming together which I can share.
The cake I made and iced myself but I can't take credit for the gorgeous racing cars. My super talented girlfriend Renee from Strawberry Jam Cakes over in WA posted these over for me. So if you're in the Perth area check out her cakes
here and you can also find her on
Facebook. She's amazing.
Cooper was so in love with the cake and was even hesitant to cut in to it. I must admit so was I.

This cake looks fantastic..so perfect for a birthday celebration! No wonder you didn't want to cut it up
ReplyDeleteYou save me a piece right?
ReplyDeleteLooks great and hope Cooper enjoyed his party xx
Love the cake! Caden has requested that kind of cake for Ethan's first birthday.
ReplyDeleteMaking a birthday cake for my daughters each year is a ritual which I love. They get to choose which one they'd like. The racing car cake looks superb. Amber
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful cake. No wonder Cooper loved it so much!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea for a party and a great looking cake to top it all off. Those racing cars are superb! gxo
ReplyDeleteAhhh the pics we've been waiting for... the cake! Looks unreal Beck! You did such a beautiful job... and so did your clever friend Renee. What a nice touch to have those little icing racing cars, so much better than a matchbox car sitting up there. I'm sure there were wrestles for one of the cars... kids always love the figurines on top of the cake.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a top party. Look forward to seeing some more pics!
Hope you've fully recovered now... but yes, walking away from the mess AND not having to cater is a PLUS! xo
That cake looks delicious! Yum :)
ReplyDeleteHope he had a lovely time at his bowling party x
wow! what a fantastic cake, very impressive! Im sure Cooper loved it! x
ReplyDeleteThe cake is great - aren`t boys the best?
ReplyDeleteThis is one super cool cake! I have to say, we had a Five year old party this week. I didn't do cake, just brunch. And it was ENOUGH! Just hanging around a five year old and their friends is exhausting! Well done you, for not killing yourself and having a party at home. xx
ReplyDeletewonderful work! I am in WA, not too close to Perth but do get there reasonably often so I'm off to check out your link. Love a good cake recommendation!
